Hmmm, I dunno how to describe what's wrong with your art. Well, lemme try - it looks like bunches of separate pixels, your pieces don't look like a solid piece of art. Objects don't integrate. You know what, pixel art is a style of art, and if you want to do something as complex as you're trying to do, not just some tiles or small sprites, you must learn the basics of 'normal' art first, before choosing any style. And the colors, the lighting... light on the plague doctor is completely off.
Nothing much, just a pixel artist. You can't expect free pixel art from me, unless you are one of my friends who's been with me for couple years. Other then that, anything i tell you, you will not believe, but i ask you, DO YOU BELIEVE?

Finally, an honest opinion. Also, i can't even consider this pixel art, cause pixel art is about retro pop culture and mine is just blocky drawing and i do use layers to draw, that is why you think they are seperate. About plague doc, well that is actually a comissioners choice, since i left the cape dark in shadows and other stuff could have been better, but i was already paid, so no turning back
No, it's isn't about layers, everybody uses them but still gets nice drawings :) It's about colors and lights that unify the objects and parts of a single object
And pixel art isn't as strict as it used to be, nowadays we have new means or creation.
It's too early for commissions, i'm afraid

Nah no bad comments here, though the only thing I spied, was the auditor's hand being a bit too large. Be sure to label your stuff pixel art!
